Lead Systems Engineer

Full-time position (40 hours/week)

RiverD International BV designs and produces unique high-quality optical instruments for in vivo skin analysis, using Raman spectroscopy. The instruments are sold worldwide to personal care and pharmaceutical industries and to universities and university hospitals. In addition to instruments for skin analysis, RiverD also develops Raman spectroscopic instruments for other medical or life sciences applications.

Your role at RiverD

We are looking for a Lead Systems Engineer to strengthen our R&D and Engineering capabilities. As a lead systems engineer you will play a key role in the design, integration, and continuous improvement of highprecision Raman spectroscopy products. Your concern will be existing products as well as new products and prototypes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and engineering of design changes and of new products
  • Integration of mechanical design, electronics design, and software/firmware design
  • Ensuring that product requirements are met
  • Compliance with our Quality Management System (ISO 13485)

What you will be doing

  • Design opto-mechanical parts for the gen2-SCA confocal Raman skin analyzer and for new prototypes
  • Include the optical, mechanical and thermal stability requirements in the design
  • Create and maintain the design documentation in compliance with our QMS
  • Work closely together with optical designers, software developers, and scientists
  • Support the design and implementation of procedures and tools for production and product verification

Education

  • BSc or MSc in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Engineering Physics, or similar
  • Proven affinity with optical systems and/or electronics

Working experience

  • Preferably 10 years of experience in mechanical design for optical systems or precision instruments
  • Proficiency with Solid Edge (or similar CAD software)
  • Mechanical tolerancing and design-for-manufacturing principles
  • Experience in coordinating technical activities or leading engineering efforts

  • A clear communicator with the skills to explain complex ideas to others
  • A practical and proactive mindset

Other requirements

  • Proficient in English (spoken and written). Dutch is a plus • You must have the legal right to work in the EU
