The SpectraCell RA™ System

Rapid bacterial typing: River Diagnostics has developed a complete system for rapid bacterial typing based on non destructive chemical analysis of the entire cell using the power of Raman spectroscopy. A 2 microliter sample of pure culture is placed into a designated test well on the MicroSlide sample carrier. A complete spectrum of biomass is analyzed in minutes providing a unique digital spectrum for each sample.





The SpectraCell RA™ System consists of:

• Intellitech Workstation
• Barcode printer
• MicroSlide sample carrier

The SpectraCell RA™ analyzer is capable of processing a 24 isolates in about 30 minutes. Over 100 isolates can be easily typed in one day, including setup time and analyzer run time. The analyzer consists of a high performance Raman (HPRM) module powered by a 785 nm continuous wave laser, an optical system, and self contained read station capable of processing a 12 or 24 well MicroSlide sample carrier.

The Intellitech Workstation guides the operator through the sample preparation procedure and loading of the test slide without a work sheet or load lists. Sample integrity, with positive sample identification, is achieved through the use of a 2D barcode on the culture plate and RFID chip imbedded in the sample carrier.

The computer and software are dedicated to the SpectraCell RA analyzer and provide all the computing, analysis, reference libraries and report generation needed to complete a study.

 
SpectraCell RA™ software can be used to identify an isolate based on a reference library match, or be used to create a dendrogram representation, a Hierarchical Cluster Analysis using Ward’s clustering algorithm. An interactive similarity line gives the user flexibility in interpreting the clustering patterns to best interpret or match the clinical setting.

In addition, previously measured data can be added to a study from the reference library to expand and provide additional information to further interpret the study results.

SpectraCell™ software Similarities function allows the user to historically search their a local database to identify and track recurring or persistent pathogens in the hospital, community, or food production process.

SpectraCell™ MicroSlide sample carrier is available in a 12 well and 24 well configuration.
