River Diagnostics addresses unmet needs and untapped markets in clinical diagnostics and life sciences R&D with products and services based on Raman spectroscopy; an optical technology, which enables detailed analysis of cells and tissues.The company was founded in 2002 as a spinout of the Center for Optical Diagnostics and Therapy of the Erasmus-university Medical Center in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, with which it continues to maintain a close working relationship.

The staff of River Diagnostics boasts a combined academic and industry experience of instrumentation, methods and advanced data analysis techniques for Raman spectroscopic characterisation of cells and tissues, with many “firsts” to their name.The requirements posed by applications in the field of cell and tissue characterisation have been translated into a rigorously optimized modular Raman technology platform.

Business activities are focused on development and marketing of products and services by which the company’s IP-portfolio and its unique combination of state-of-the-art technology and applications expertise can be optimally leveraged. An ISO-13485 quality management system has been implemented.Product development and marketing is either handled by the company itself, or occurs in the framework of industrial and academic partnerships.
River Diagnostic introduced the 3510 Skin Composition Analyzer for in vivo skin analysis, providing detailed and previously unavailable information about skin composition. Its customers include most of the leading companies in the personal care and cosmetics industry.
