Classification of cells and tissues
The other general approach to data analysis is to realize that since every molecule in a cell or tissue contributes its signal, the overall Raman spectrum is in fact a representation of the overall molecular composition of the cell/tissue.
Because different types of cells or tissues will differ in their overall molecular composition, their Raman spectra will also be different.
As such the spectra can be used as a highly specific spectroscopic fingerprint, that enable identification or classification.
